Welcome to Our First Quarterly Newsletter!
|
Fall is here, bringing cooler weather, football, colorful leaves, Halloween fun, and the beginning of the holiday season. We are excited to introduce the first quarterly Keeneland Subdivision Newsletter. Our goal is simple: keep neighbors informed, encourage community involvement, share helpful information, and continue making Keeneland a neighborhood we are proud to call home. We hope future editions will include neighborhood projects, upcoming events, homeowner announcements, seasonal reminders, local recommendations, and plenty of opportunities for neighbors to connect.

Let's Spruce Up Keeneland
|
One of the easiest ways to improve the overall appearance of our neighborhood is to take care of the small details that everyone sees each day.
|
Are your mailbox and post beginning to show their age? Over time, our neighborhood mailboxes can become faded, dirty, chipped, and difficult to read. A fresh coat of paint, cleaned street numbers, and a little attention can make a big difference. Tony Blackburn is offering complete mailbox refurbishment for Keeneland residents for $75. The service includes: - Cleaning and preparation of the mailbox and post
- Repainting
- Cleaning and refreshing the street numbers
- Paint, labor, and materials
Everything is included for $75 per mailbox. Imagine the difference it could make if we refreshed mailboxes throughout the neighborhood this fall!

Who Will Have Keeneland's Best Halloween Decorations?
|
The ghosts, goblins, pumpkins, skeletons, witches, and inflatable monsters will soon be taking over Keeneland. So the question is… Who is going to have the BEST Halloween decorations in Keeneland this year? Whether you go spooky, funny, creative, traditional, or completely over the top, we want to see it. Let's have some fun decorating the neighborhood throughout October and see which homes become the ones everyone talks about. We would also love to consider making this an annual Keeneland tradition with categories such as: Best Overall Display Spookiest House Most Creative Best Family Friendly Display Clark Griswold Award for Going Completely Overboard Watch for more information as Halloween gets closer. And, of course, please remember to slow down and watch carefully for children walking through the neighborhood on Halloween night.
|
As Thanksgiving approaches, fall gives us an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the things that matter most. We are thankful for our families, our homes, and the neighbors who make Keeneland more than simply a collection of houses. Good neighborhoods are built through small things: waving when someone drives by, helping a neighbor who needs a hand, watching out for one another, introducing yourself to someone new, and taking pride in the place we all share. This Thanksgiving season, consider checking on a neighbor, introducing yourself to someone you have not met, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the community around us. From our Keeneland family to yours, we wish everyone a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Keeneland Community Yard Sale
|
Is your garage getting a little too full? Do you have furniture, toys, clothes, tools, decorations, or other items you have been meaning to sell? KEENELAND COMMUNITY YARD SALE! A coordinated neighborhood yard sale gives everyone more exposure and makes Keeneland a destination for shoppers instead of individual homes trying to attract traffic on separate weekends. We would like to gauge interest in organizing a community wide yard sale. Possible options include a late fall sale or planning one for early spring when the weather warms up. If enough households participate, we can select a date, advertise the sale throughout the surrounding area, and place signs directing shoppers into the neighborhood. Start going through those closets and garages now!

Fall Neighborhood Checklist
|
Fall is also a great time to take care of a few things around the house before winter arrives. - Cleaning gutters and downspouts
- Changing HVAC filters
- Checking smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Trimming shrubs and landscaping
- Removing leaves from storm drains and drainage areas
- Checking outdoor lighting
- Pressure washing driveways, sidewalks, and mailboxes
- Inspecting exterior faucets before freezing temperatures arrive
- Cleaning up summer toys, equipment, and outdoor furniture
A little fall maintenance helps keep both our homes and our neighborhood looking great.
|
With children playing, families walking, neighbors exercising, pets being walked, delivery vehicles entering the neighborhood, and school buses making stops, please remember to keep speeds down throughout Keeneland. A few extra seconds behind the wheel can make a tremendous difference. Please also remind teenage drivers and visitors to watch their speed while traveling through the subdivision.
|
Beginning with our next edition, we would love to feature a Keeneland Neighbor Spotlight. Know someone who deserves recognition? Maybe they volunteer in the community, serve in the military, work as a first responder, recently retired, accomplished something special, started a new business, celebrated a milestone, or simply go out of their way to help their neighbors. Send us your nominations and help us celebrate the people who make Keeneland special.
|
If you have recently moved into Keeneland, welcome! We hope you will introduce yourself to your neighbors and become involved in our community. If you see someone new moving in, take a minute to say hello. A friendly welcome can go a long way toward creating the kind of neighborhood where people know and look out for one another.
